Estate sale basics — before you go

If you've never been to one, a quick primer. Most estate sales run Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday. Day one is full price, day two is often 25–50% off, day three (if there is one) can be everything-must-go. Which day to go depends on what you want: **Day one:** best selection, worst prices. Show up early, even an hour before opening if the ad looks great — some sales hand out numbered tickets. **Day two:** the best balance of selection + price for most people. **Day three:** leftovers, but real deals if nobody wanted what you want. Always bring: cash, a measuring tape, a flashlight (basements), packing material, and a bag or cart. Always ask: "Are there any items still held back?" and "What's your best on this piece?" Both questions are totally normal. What am I missing, pros? — Chase
