The Story of Windsong

In 1958, John & Cassandra Baylis opened a small antique shop in an old Cape three quarter house facing the salt marsh on Rock Harbor Road in Orleans. There the name of Windsong was born to honor the haunting harmonies of the Cape wind as it whistled across the marsh and sang under the eaves of the 19th century home.

In 1961, John & Cassandra moved Windsong Antiques to the carriage barn on the grounds of a large 18th century captain’s house on Bank Street in Harwich.

Over the next 26 years the business grew in size and reputation until, in 1987, the Baylises sold the property and moved Windsong Antiques to Florida.

In April of 2005, Windsong Antiques proudly returned to Harwich under the care and keeping of John and Cassandra’s daughter, Sandra Baylis Hall. Cassandra, meanwhile, continues actively in the business from her somewhat warmer vantage point in Palm Coast, Florida, providing expertise, stock and yes…much motherly advice.

Our goal is to uphold the quality tradition established by John and Cassandra over these many years. We hope you enjoy your time here and will return often.
